Quizlet

Just the other day I was working with my math methods students on the topic of geometry and it became clear that many of them had forgotten some important vocabulary terms, like similar, congruent, the difference between diameter and radius and so on. I recommended a site to them that the Teacher Ed board had recently reviewed -- Quizlet. Quizlet was created by a then-high school student in order to practice for his tests. The program allows you to either use electronic flashcards created by another teacher or student, or develop your own to help you practice and learn vocabulary.

Just recently, the Quizlet site posted that an Apple app for Quizlet will be available this month. How cool is that?

Quizlet, though valuable for math vocabulary, would be equally useful for foreign language acquisition, science terms, literature terms and the like.

  1. Ha Ha! Yeah! I use Quizlet A TON! It works very well with our interactive 3M technology. The kids especially love SCATTER... I have a student teacher now and I was just telling her to set up the word roots exercises that we are doing in QUIZLET.
